Brother, let down your dress
Brother, let down your dress
Longer or Shorter
Longer or Shorter
I will love you the same
Sister, let down your hair
Sister, let down your hair
Longer or Shorter
Longer or Shorter
I will love you the same
[instrumental]

Longer or Shorter
Longer or Shorter
I will love you the same
I'd take you to the arboretum
When the leaves change
I'd photograph the stupid moments
We find ourselves in
I wouldn't need so much attention
I'd help you with the dishes
Maybe take out the trash
I'd probably still forget
To pick up my laundry
I wouldn't need so much attention
If I could just get well
If I could just get well
If I could just get well
If I could just get well
If I could just get well
If I could just get well
If I could just get well
If I could just get well
If I could just get well
If I could just get well
If I could just get well
about
About Brother, Sister:
"It's been a long year, full of health problems, technical failures, and very little forward motion. But bit by bit, I've been recording this song on the tape machine outside my bedroom. Sometimes I'd record a small vocal part at the beginning of the month and a harmony at the end. The process was long and painful, but it's done now, and I think it came out pretty damn well!"
-Ryan
About Get Well (cass. demo):
"After years of gradual decline due to ME/CFS, my health dropped off a cliff just before Christmas in 2017. I could hardly walk, sound hurt, I couldn't read or write, and any light brighter than a candle caused intense pain. Somehow, I managed to record a little bit of music every day, straight to a cassette tape. Even in a dark room, I had to wear a blindfold in order to play; the slightest amount of visual input would overwhelm me. During this period, I wrote and recorded a demo for the song Get Well in about five minutes. You can hear tape hiss and a few stumbles, but that's where I was at. It was unrehearsed and straight from the gut."
-Ryan
"['Brother, Sister' is] a pleasant 3-minute folk song with a positive feel... Both sides present an artist making art to get through."
-Brightest Young Things
